In 1949 some far-sighted Nelson councillors formed a choir because they wanted children to sing.
The first conductor was Mr Pat Devine. Over the next 50 years Edward Parr developed the Nelson Civic Choirs. The Youth and Childrens' Choirs changed their name 20 years ago to incorporate Pendle, as this had become the name of the borough.
2019 sees the anniversary of 70 years of Pendle children singing and this continuous singing achievement will be marked with several events and concerts throughout the year; the first one being this one at The Muni Theatre.
